A. C. River Plate

Here is my second post, dedicated to my reason for my life, River Plate,
Here we go .. !
The history of Club Atlético River Plate is the story of the greatest football team of Argentina, with 18 million fans, 81,000 members, thirty of the AFA local championships and 5 international cups.
River Plate is the leading club football competition in the country high and the most representative abroad, in addition to having made known to the world by the style of football based on skill, good treatment of the ball and the search permanent opposite goal.
1900 - 1910
To know the origins of the club, you must go back to the early twentieth century in the South Waterfront neighborhood of La Boca, as the teams' Santa Rosa and "Rosales" (former "Youth Boquense"

disputed the footballing supremacy the area. Both teams, in an effort to gain more weight within their sport, decided to merge. On May 25, 1901, a group of men decided to open a chapter mark a before and after the Argentina football history.Livio Ratto had proposed the name of Club Atlético Forward, which was rejected as "Youth Boquense, suggested by Bernardo Messina and" Rosales ", recommended by Carlos Antelo.
Pedro Martinez, meanwhile, had seen the construction of Dock 3 marked "The River Plate" in a large container. The latter was quickly accepted by most as the definitive name for the club.
Shortly after the founding, in a night of Carnival, a group of members of River Plate took part in a parade, with a butcher cart Wilson called "The inhabitants of hell." When the party was coming to an end, a group of mischievous kids stole a red silk ribbon to a car that had stopped near a rest. The reason? Attach a detail to the white shirt representing River.
River begins to participate in the championships of the Association in 1905. On December 13, 1908 amounts to first division in a match against Racing triumphant, culminating with a 2-1 victory for the club in the red band.
The team was climbing with the following players: Luraschi, Chiappe and Politano, Messina, Morroni and Chagneaud, Anapodisto Garcia, Faucets, Abaca Gomez, Elias Fernandez and Priano.
1910 - 1920
During these years, the "popcorn" was mounted in an empty lot in the South Basin. All worked with the contribution of money for grooming.
The managers of the coal Wilson donated some posts that replace previous clothing or mounds of stones. Leopoldo Bard-first president and captain of the first team-donated fencing along with some partners.
The first "popcorn" was located in the block through the streets Finch, Cabot, Aristobulus del Valle and Pedro de Mendoza.
The club's first team consisted of: Moltedo, Ratto, Cevallos, Peralta, Carrega, Bard, Kitzler, Martinez, Flores, Zanni and Messina.
1920 - 1930
The former River Plate stadium in La Boca continued until 1921, when the by then club president Jose Bacigaluppi, saw a lot in the apple Alvear, Tagle, Austria and the pools of water. Thus, the May 20, 1923, a brand new stadium was inaugurated on May 20, 1923. Anyway, the 20s was not favorable for the club and ended with a single title.
1930 - 1940
After some outstanding performance in the last amateur tournament in history, entering the River Plate professionalism thanks to the hiring of Carlos Peucelle and the incorporation of so-called "mortar Rufino": Bernabé Ferreyra, idol for the club.
1932 is a year of revolution in the football market, because the red band Millionaires acquired the nickname after disbursing huge number of one hundred thousand five hundred dollars. By Barnabas Tigre club paid the sum of thirty-five thousand dollars, having spent ten thousand Peucelle.
At year's end, River Plate won first professional tournament in its history after a 2-0 win over Independiente.
After a string of performances that did not meet or fans or managers, River bicampeonato achieved in the years 1936 and 1937. The contribution of two riverplatenses of soul, and Jose Manuel Adolfo Moreno Pedernera was key to win both tournaments.
Another great event of the decade was the opening of the Monumental stadium, on May 26, 1938. The then President, Antonio Liberti, chose an area where the building was non-existent: Centennial and River Plate.
In 1939, the highest debut scorer riverplatense: Angel Amadeo Labruna, soccer idol Millionaire maximum.
1940 - 1950
The 40s was leading a memorable milestone for the club's history: the so-called "Machine" football, born in a match against Independiente in 1941. The match ended 4-0 in favor of Millionaire, with three goals and one Pedernera Muñoz.
The team worked adopting the MW and enjoyed a solid defense with a front consisting of Muñoz, Moreno, Pedernera Labruna and Deambrosi. The last player, nicknamed "the Chicken", joined the lethal offensive during the '41 championship and would later be replaced by Lousteau.
It was a time of absolute glory to the club, which won again bicampeonato Argentine football in 1941 and 1942 thanks to a legendary match at the Bombonera, which Pedernera scored twice.
River was two years and returned to take over a tournament. In this case, took the title of the year 1945, with a young archer Amadeo Carrizo as a debutante.
Since there would begin the story of another River and one football.
Towards the end of the decade, with Alfredo Di Stefano as shown, River Plate achieved an absolute highlight, making 90 goals in 30 games champion of 1947.
1950 - 1960
By late 1951 he toured Europe was in history. The team of the '50s, led by Minella, began the path to triple victory.
The 1952 championship was won by suffering, and his figure was Walter Gomez. In 1953, River Plate was consecrated after playing the title with Racing in the penultimate tournament date.
After a short interval of one year, the club returned to the top of the Argentine championship and won the first tri-championship in its history.
In 1955, a 16-game unbeaten streak, took the title with an extra twist: the championship was at the home of his eternal rival, in the Bombonera.
In 1956, the team undefeated Millionaire reached 23 consecutive wins (16 coming from the previous year), with a win against Lanus, turning and reaching an incredible game and take a decisive advantage to clinch the tournament.
In 1957, he was with the tip from the third party and did not share the rest of the competition. River Independent defeat the penultimate game and three-time and devotes the first time in its history when it was the last major title as Labruna, Reed, "Pipo" Rossi, Sivori and Lousteau, and the first and only one crack looming: Erminda Angel Onega.
After the sale of Sivori to Juventus of Italy, in 1958, built the last header of the Monumental (the platform Almirante Brown, now called "Sivori" in his honor), and terminating the famous horseshoe.
1960 - 1970
This was a time that many fans want to forget, as they were years of constant turnover of players. The machine that produced cracks in the lower divisions was not the other times, the results were given and suffered with every championship won by Boca.
In the contest of 1960 River finished two points independently and reached only the title of runner-up. In 1961 the performance was not the best, in 1962 lost the championship by a few points in the penultimate date in 1963 was back to two units of the Red de Avellaneda. It was a decade of great players, but did not allow adversity to reach Millo long-awaited glory that reached very often in previous years.
It is noteworthy that in 1966 first played Millonarios Copa Libertadores de America (participating champions and runners) and reached the end of it, which were defeated after playing against Peñarol Montevideo, in a historic playoff match at the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile.
In 1967, the FAA ordered that will be played, besides the usual championship, national tournament, attended by teams from throughout the country, but that did not change the fate of the decade, repeated frustrations, the fans are impatient and do not recognized the stars of the moment.
The black remember most of the time, however, not strictly football, but has to do with what happened at the June 23, 1968 when, just completed a classic to mouth in the Monumental, there was the greatest tragedy of the century in Argentine courts. At 16.45, the door 12 could not resist the public pressure and gave way, causing 71 deaths and wounding 66 people.
Towards the end of the decade River, Racing and Velez played all the triangle made history by so-called "Mano de Gallo" Guillermo Nimo the referee ignored. The crude intervention of Luis Gallo, Velez player, prevented the celebration of the band.
On 22 December the same year, he retired the best archer in the history of the Club, the undisputed idol: Amadeo Raul Carrizo, who at 42 years, with a record of 521 games, 18 saves and seven criminal titles to his credit, hung up his gloves.
In 1969 River Plate closed the decade with the second place at the Metropolitan and National Championships.
1970 - 1980
At the beginning of the decade, the club was unable to sit with an event. The Metropolitan of 1970 he lost by a goal difference for the Independent and, in the same year, he became director of the Brazilian team "Didi" who was the architect of the "Jogo Bonito", who promoted youth then stand out as Norberto Alonso, Juan Jose Lopez, Carlos Morette and Ghisso Victrola.
It had been many technical and no one could cut with a curse but with the return of Angel Labruna the bank opened a new hope: the team of "Angelito" rejoined Oscar More (from the Real Madrid), Roberto Perfumo and Pedro Gonzalez, among others. Labruna River is synonymous with, the fans feel identified with his name and take it as the biggest idol that the Club had throughout its history. With him on River there was a football revolution.
Despite his youth, Norberto Alonso was the figure of the Angel team, and together with the speed of "Pinin" Plus, it made a difference in a compact package.
Labruna assembled an offensive team that handled the ball very well balanced in the midfield and very solid defense made a River player and organizer of the tournament, not only when playing but when it came to filling stadiums among other things, their forcefulness, which was evident game after game.
At the end of the championship, a surprise event surprised everyone: a strike of professional football players despite the AFA which ordered that the matches were played. Thus, joint fusions were the third and fourth divisions and ended beating River Plate Argentinos Juniors 1-0 in the Velez stadium, breaking that streak and devoting damn, anecdotally, with juveniles in the field.
With the strike and raised three days later, Millonarios Racing Avellaneda faced with all the headlines, won 2-0 and the party was complete.
At this time, the Club's football history took a major shift. In 1975, River was another victory lap in the National Tournament. Gone are the 18 years of frustrations and disappointments and the figure of Norberto Alonso emerged as one of the great players that the Club had throughout history. Gradually, the Millionaires became the winningest team of Argentine football and the club begins a new stage to win championships would become a habit.
In the mid-'76, Beto was transferred to Olympique Marseille and River dispute again Libertadores Cup final, this time against Cruzeiro, against whom lost 4 to 1 in Brazil and won 2 to 1 in Buenos Aires.
Daniel Passarella stood out as a solid defender and strong in the brand, with outstanding auctions and excels in its ability to head, in the area itself and in the rival. Throughout his career he was the defender who made more goals: 99. Perfumo, meanwhile, was the patron of the defense and a man of great influence on and off the field.
In 1977, led by Labruna repeated the glory at the Met, playing local Hurricane on the court because the Monumental was being refurbished to the World Cup next year.
River in 1978 brought many players to the squad that would win the World Cup finals in the country: Ubaldo Fillol, Leopoldo Luque, Daniel Passarella, Norberto Alonso and Oscar Ortiz, reached the highest glory with the blue and white.
In 1979, the Millionaires were doubled again, won the championship in the Metropolitan and National tournaments.
1980 - 1990
River Plate's supremacy again became notable in the early 80's. In the first tournament of this period, the AFA called "Championship fourth centenary of the Second Foundation of Buenos Aires", directed by the Labruna thrashed their arch-rivals Boca Juniors, by 5 to 2 with Ramon Diaz figure. "Peeling" was the scorer with 14 goals. This is the year when the band achieved the second tri-championship in its history.
When Aragon Labruna dismissed Cabrera's arrival occurs Alfredo Di Stefano and the next tournament, are incorporated in July Olarticoechea, Américo Rubén Gallego and Mario Alberto Kempes, who get their championship in 1981 after winning the final two Western Railway. Mario Kempes was the key to the team until his return to Valencia Spanish, Beto Alonso ended up leaving because of differences with Di Stefano and Ramon Diaz emigrated to Europe as well as Daniel Passarella.
In 1983, Joseph took over as coach and Varacka occurs comes from a player who made history and forever would get at the heart of the fan: Enzo Francescoli, crack Uruguayan owner of a unique skill that would be filled with glory and praise to the band red cross on his chest. For these years, the club's financial situation was unsustainable. El "Pato" Fillol came to be suspended for using advertising on their clothing and River goalkeeper was on the verge of decline, but ended up saving just so.
In early 1984 became president Hugo Santilli and with it came the triumphs again, hiring coach Hector Veira and incorporating Nery Pumpido.
In 1985 he implemented a new championship system consisting of a single annual event, and Europe.
River fought from the start the first places in the championship, in which the performances with Claudio Morresi Francescoli were key to winning. El Beto Alonso returned at the request of Bambino Veira but waited his turn at the bench. Finally, in the penultimate match against Boca, the Olympics turned millionaire before the start and, later, Beto scored two goals to the delight of the people Millionaire.
In 1986, Nunez was removed the thorn from the late '66 and '76, achieving the much coveted Copa Libertadores. In first round led the group in the second won by a landslide at Argentinos Juniors and Barcelona of Guayaquil and in the final, beat America de Cali in Colombia 2 to 1 and 1 to 0 in the Monumental, with a goal Funes which exploded to more than 85,000 people.

Already under the direction of Carlos Timoteo Griguol, the Millionaires won the 1987 American Cup. The victory was against Liga Deportiva Alajuelense Costa Rican team, after a 0-0 draw in visitors and win 3 to 0 in Nunez. At the end of the decade, another great football left riverplatense football: Norberto "Beto" Alonso, with 374 games and 179 goals, left the Monumental to the recognition and applause of over 80,000 fans.
In 1988 Santilli bet on the arrival of Cesar Luis Menotti, who, despite having a group of stars for poor performance had to resign and was eventually replaced by Reinaldo Merlo in the bank and Norberto Alonso manager.
1990 - 2000
The 90s was the winner in the history of River Plate, in part because most of the coaches that had been worked and promoted club players looking for new talent within the nursery millionaire.
In December '89 Davico Alfredo assumes as President of River, who did not hesitate to give the address of Daniel Passarella. "I had no experience, was not professional and does not even crossed his mind me directing," says current President of the club.
It was a time when you could not waste money and needed to bet on lower riverplatense to seed. The Passarella was a team that handled the pressure well. Astrada and Zapata were responsible for performing the dirty work of the midfield and did it perfectly.
River was a different, with a large deficit and a team "Arming".
In the season 1989/1990, in the band kept the dedication thanks to goals from Ramon Ismael Medina Bello and magnificent midfield consisting of Gustavo Zapata, Leonardo Astrada, Hector Enrique, Juan José Rubén Da Silva Borrelia. It was the first championship as a coach Passarella and had debuted with a title.

In 1991 a new international frustration shook River, first played one Super Cup and, having won 2 to 0 the opening match, was defeated by Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte by 3 to 0.

When Daniel Passarella was called to lead the Argentina, Alfredo Davico Americo Gallego offered the technical direction of the Club for six months. It is in this period was the return after eight years of Enzo Francescoli from Europe.
Ariel Ortega was living with his dribbling and speed and "Enzo" was still intact and showed that it was the same who had gone years ago. Up front, began to exploit all the skills and goals from Hernan Crespo. On November 11 played against Boca the biggest game of the championship, which ended with a resounding 3-0 in favor of the millionaire, thanks to goals scored by Francescoli, Ortega y Gallardo, a marked difference from the rest convirtiedo noticeable that set in the only undefeated club history with 12 wins and seven draws.

2000 - Present
The last decade of history began with a new riverplatense bicampeonato. After the opening of 1999, the Millionaires won the Clausura 2000 with a date in advance.
On May 25, 2001 River Plate turned one hundred years of history and could not be otherwise: While fans celebrated in style with a "Caravana Monumental" which brought together more than 40,000 fans cornered Millionaires with people between 24 and 32 blocks extension, pure party walking from the Obelisk to the Antonio Vespucio Liberti. My opinion: I love you river plate.

YAPA :
The Fat Matosas
A symbol that emerged in the early 60's was undoubtedly the Matosas Gorda. Its original name was Haydee Martinez Lujan and tells the story that his fanaticism for the little girl was born millionaire, when in a classic had to decide which club was swollen River and colors were their choice. His nickname was born by an offering of Uruguay Roberto Matosas, who gave him his T-shirt which he used every time you attended the Monumental.
Few female manners and peculiar vocabulary, it was during his time the popular leader riverplatense. The livelihood of his life was the sale of lotteries, which enabled him to follow the Millionaire everywhere. Such was his love for River, that when he was about to marry her boyfriend gave her an ultimatum: "all good for your bigotry, but after marriage just to go to court. A deal with the family, "he would say. Not only rejected the summons to your partner but since then, immortalized a phrase that marked from head to toe: "River's my boyfriend, my friend and my lover. And with that, I have enough. "
In the days prior to the final of the Libertadores, 1986, against Colombia's America de Cali, was a strong infection affected his lungs, a product of his addiction led to his hospitalization also cigarette. Not only refused to medical recommendations, but not stopped going to the court until 1996. I do not see it again became champion of America, but from a cloud, smoking and encouraging, sure to be thrilled with goals from Hernan Crespo and felt lifted the cup with Enzo Francescoli.
