Living the present

_____________

There are many people who claim to live the present, that all that matters to them is the day to day and not think about the future, as a vindication, a slogan or a way of life. They come to tell us not worry about tomorrow, what will or what will be next week, not planned, do not waste time and energy on things that happen. Although with some variations, in fact the phrase "living present" as is used by many of us is wrong. That's not living the present, that is not worrying about the future. And it's different.

_____________

In reality we all live in the present. It is impossible not to. You can not escape the present. You are here. These reading this now and you're in that second that it is your present. And then the other, and then another. Like it or not, you're always in the present. Another thing is where your mind. And that's one of the great evils of our society.

_____________

Past and future are mental states. There are by themselves are nothing. The past is the imprint left us a present state went before. The future is a projection of our mind the present state today. Although we can not conceive of living in a mental state that is not something that has already passed and which has been storing data, images, feelings, information, or in a future state that is the projection of these images, data and sensations. When we think something will happen or who want to happen, we are extrapolating the information we have in our mind to build this future event. We imagine that future, but the future does not exist. Only the present exists.

For example, we live many times looking for something to come, hoping that something happens that has not happened yet, longing for the moment what we want to happen happens. Our mind is putting most of their time on things we want to happen: time off work, holidays, arrives the weekend, we win the lottery, I change jobs, find partner, who has children, which I return, I buy that. They are not real situations. They are just tricks of our mind and our ego to survive.

_____________

We are not our mind, nor are our ego. The mind is the supercomputer that processes, sorts and makes decisions based on thousands of data arriving every second through our senses. The ego is the "entity" created energy around the mind, feelings and emotions, to "manage" the body and the reality in which we live. Both can not survive in the present. The mind is not able to analyze something that is happening right now, because when it does (when it has received the data for it), the time is past. For the mind does not exist today. For a few thousandths of thousandths of a second it takes to launch a thought or a decision, this is already out of something that happened. You can not capture this, so can not live in it.

_____________

The ego does not understand this. Their survival is tied to our fears, desires, passions, emotions and affections. The ego is the self that lives in us and helping us to carry the day to day, but for that reason alone is able to interpret the day to day in the past, to what has already happened, or based the future projections can make the mind than what will happen. The ego can not exist at present, because it has no power over him. This frightens you, and threatens their survival. Why not allow us to live in the present and deals that we always thought in our heads or related to the past or the future.

If you always lived in the present, could end up dissolving the ego and the mind could quietly become an order that would shut down and only use when we took to compute or analyze data information (have you ever tried to try disconnecting your mind? can not!), but not always the launching and generating thoughts that keep us in eternal state of mental noise.

_____________

If you've got some time to let your mind go blank, perhaps you know how to live the present. The status of this is the state of no thought. It's that moment where you are totally focused and aware of your presence "in the now." Everything you see, hear and feel does not pass through the filters of the analytical mind as this is not interfering. This is the state that exists between thought and thought. Try it. See what is happening now in your mind. It can be anything that worries you or that is going around, and see when that thought fades ... and that tiny space of time in which the new thinking has not yet arrived. Did you see? It hurts. Now came another thought, and this hasleft us again.
