Luis Alberto Spinetta dies at 62



Musician Luis Alberto Spinetta died at 62 years old after battling a lung cancer for more than six months.
Considered a pioneer of the national and Latin American rock and roll, Spinetta was admired by many colleagues. Once, Charly García said: “If I were a genious, I’d be Spinetta.”
His children Vera and Dante confirmed the musician’s death via Twitter. “My heart will long for you. I love you Dad,” wrote his daughter, while his son and leader of Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas stated: “I will always love you Dad.”


Sources close to the musician said that he has died in his home, surrounded by his children Dante, Valentino, Catarina and Vera. Besides, they also anticipated that they will hold a private wake.
The former leader of Almendra and Pescado Rabioso, among other iconic rock and roll bands of Argentina, had announced on December he was battling against a lung cancer discovered on July.
A few weeks ago Spinetta was released from the CEMIC clinic where he underwent a diverticles sugery that were not related to the cancer.
