"I let my subconscious flow and ideas, images, feelings, come up and I mix them all; it may make sense, or may not."
Lourdes Hernández is a singer-songwriter based in Madrid, Spain. The moniker for Lourdes comes from a lipstick color she frequently uses. Her beautifully crafted, minimal songs beam delicate folk harmonies and lustrous vocals. The band was originally formed in 2007, by Lourdes and Brian Hunt, with whom she had previously recorded some songs, and who helped her record her first album. However, before it was released, they split up. The Spanish producer Fernando Vacas asked Hernández to record an album to be issued by his label Eureka. The album, her first, was called I Love Your Glasses and quickly became a success, leading El País columnist Alfonso Cardenal to deem Russian Red the "revelation of the year". With the release of her first album I Love Your Glasses Russian Red became well-known and popular in Spain. In late 2010, Russian Red signed with Octubre of Sony Music Spain. In May 2011, she released her second album Fuerteventura.
