The History of the House and its Subgenres

The house is a musical genre encompassed within the concept of electronic music. It was created in Chicago clubs in the early eighties. House music is strongly influenced by disco (in turn influenced by soul and funk) in the late 70's. The house takes elements of the disc, such as prominent bass keeping time, but creating a new style to blend with electronic sounds created with synthesizers, samples and voices reverberating. Its history goes back to the clubs of the mid-eighties in Chicago, though many still claim that had its beginnings in the late seventies (more specifically in 1977) when Frankie Knuckles (its apparent creator and one of its most representative icons) debuted as the main DJ (1977 to 1982) at the club known as The Warehouse. This apparently was the club that gave name to this style. However, some people claim (including Larry Heard, aka 'Mr. Fingers'), the term describes only house that many beginners DJ created this style in their own homes, thanks to technological innovations such as box rhythms and "Revox" 4-track.

The Deep House (House D), is one of the hottest trends, envelopes and soulful electronic music type house. It is characterized by a few beats per minute. 124 b.p.m. The deep house sound is diversified as accepting different atmospheres referential sounds, electronic sounds, or vowels. Since 1987, the house gave rise to a multitude of subgenres that spoke very clearly of its vitality and creative fury.
