One of the fundamentals things you need to learn before playing is Tunning. In order to do that you need to train you ears and memory, apart from taking lessons with a good teacher!! Out of all the videos I've checked on the web, this guy's series of tunning tips might be the simplest yet more complete lessons and tips on "Knowing where your drum is at" Even though the guy is sponsored by Evans, I highly recommend to any drum student to have a look at it!! Or if you know anybody who is taking first steps on drumming, recommend it to them!!
