This band shares its name with the first dog to go into space, Laika, from the Soviet (incidentally the dog was also the first dog to die in orbit). ANYWAY I digress, Laika is a UK based music group released on Too Pure Records. How to describe them? mmmmm well... they like to describe themselves as an emotional mix of rock, electronic, jazz and dub. I guess that's a pretty accurate description. They merge different samples, play guitars and generally experiment with different sounds and noises. To sum up, they're pretty "out there" much like Laika the dog, which is why they named themselves after him. Apparently they like to walk around the streets recording various sounds that they then mix. The music isn't for everyone but I think you can appreciate the work and different layers of sound that goes into it.
The group comprises of Margaret Fiedler and Guy Fixsen, previously from the band Moonshake.
This song is called Breather and is taken from their album Sounds of the Satellites. I think it's a fantastic piece of music.
