The Julian Assange Telemovie: "The Julian Assange Story
Just wanted to share this...because although everyone out there might know what's happening to Julian Assange in the present day but do you know the history of the worlds most talked about hacker?
IT'S the Australian telemovie even the CIA will probably watch - now here's your first look at Ten's hotly-anticipated Underground - The Julian Assange Story.
With the real founder of WikiLeaks cooling his heels in the Ecuador embassy in London, his early years will play out on the small screen soon after it is expected to make its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this month.
From the producers of Balibo and The Slap, the Channel 10 commission tracks an adolescent Assange who first comes to international notice as a teenage hacker living at home with his mother in suburban Melbourne.
In his first major role, young actor Alex Williams plays the mop-haired high school student, who bands with mates to use their new-found computer skills to hack into government security systems.
His mother Christine (who clashed with entertainment reporter John Michael Howson on radio last month) is to be played by Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Griffiths, while Emmy winner Anthony LaPaglia plays the lead investigator charged with tracking the young hackers.
Ten executive producer Rick Maier said the Toronto screening invite was "not only great recognition for the film itself, and the bold leap of faith, but for the Australian television industry full stop."
Take a first look at Underground: The Julian Assange Story. Don't miss this massive Australian movie event. Coming soon to TEN. Source
