Incredible Rock Sculptures Made Without Any Glue

After you see some gravity-defying balancing rock sculptures by Michael Grab, your may first think there’s some kind of trick here. But the answer is unbelievably simple and trick-free: he does that only by being patient enough! The way Michael explains his “Gravity Glue” project makes it sound a lot simpler than it is, but it’s true: this Canadian land artist simply feels the shape and the balance of each rock, and is thus able to set them in a stable construction.

“Every rock is covered in a variety of tiny to large indentations that can act as a tripod for the rock to stand upright, or in most orientations you can think of with other rocks. By paying close attention to the feeling of the rocks, you will start to feel even the smallest clicks,” explains Michael. This has now turned into something more than just an experiment: “Over the past few years of practicing rock balance, simple curiosity has evolved into therapeutic ritual, ultimately nurturing meditative presence, mental well-being, and artistry of design. Alongside the art, setting rocks into balance has also become a way of showing appreciation, offering thanksgiving, and inducing meditation.”
