The love of a father for his son.


One day the son asked his father, " Dad be with me in a marathon? The father replied, "yes." They went to the marathon and completed it together. Father and son were together .. other marathons, the father always said "yes" to requests for your child to go together at the races. One day, the son asked his father, "Dad, let's join together in the 'Ironman?' 'The father said "if" they too are Dick and Rick Hoyt. .

(Dick Hoyt) and son (Rick Hoyt, born in 1962) in Massachusetts compete together in marathons, triathlons and other physical challenges. Rick has a disability acquired at birth from lack of oxygen to his brain because his umbilical cord got tangled around his neck which caused her cerebral palsy.












Thanks to his parents, who ignored the diagnosis of physicians indicated that they remain in a persistent vegetative state and Tufts University engineers, who recognized that his sense of humor indicated intelligence, the age of 12, Rick was able to learn to use a special computer to communicate, using head movements. The first words that he did write were "Come Bruins!".










They entered his first race in 1977, a 5-mile charity run for an injured lacrosse player who was a schoolmate of Rick. Dick is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of the United States Air National Guard. Rick achieving a degree from Boston University in special education and now works at Boston College. They continue to compete in races and they are also motivational speakers.












As of June 2005, Team Hoyt participated in a total of 911 events, including 206 Triathlons (6 of which were Ironman competitions), 20 duathlons and 64 marathons, including 24 consecutive Boston Marathons. They have also managed to bike and run over the United States in 1992, a journey of 3,735 miles that it took them 45 days.









When once asked Rick that thing would give his father, he replied "The thing I love most is that my dad sit in the chair and I can push it."
