Following on from my DIY avocado face mask post a few weeks ago (which I hope you've all tried... if you haven't you can find it here: http://www.socialphy.com/posts/do-it-yourself/10716/DIY-Avocado-Face-Mask.html), I thought I'd share with you another great food-related beauty treatment you can do at home involving egg white and your hair. Believe it or not, egg white is a great treatment for your hair, packing it full of protein and leaving it feeling soft, clean and looking shiny. And egg white is a staple in the average person's fridge so a quick alternative if you've run out of conditioner.

The best way to use it is as a mask on your hair mixed with yogurt and a few drops of essential oils. Try out this method below.

Step 1: Use a whisk or a mixer to beat egg whites until they are white and foamy, about two minutes.

Step 2: Fold in yogurt, one spoonful at a time, mixing gently until the ingredients are completely incorporated and form a thick, creamy paste.

Step 3: Add a few drops of essential oil to the mixture, if you like, stirring to combine.

Step 4: Drape a towel around your shoulders to protect your clothing.

Step 5: Use your fingers to scoop up the egg white-yogurt mixture and apply it to your hair. Massage your scalp, taking care to thoroughly coat all your hair with the mask. Let the mixture sit on your hair for 15 minutes.

Step 6: Rinse your hair completely with cool water, making sure to completely remove all the egg white-yogurt mixture.

Happy Hair styling!

As for your leftover egg yolks, they don't need to go to waste. You can beat them with a tiny amount of water and apply the mixture to red spots on your skin to reduce their appearance.
