I can’t imagine my day without my mobile phone. I would be out of touch with my colleagues, family, friends and business contacts. Over time, the size of my contact list is getting bigger and bigger. Months back I had started to maintain a dairy, as conventional method, but soon I got bored and at present, even I don’t know where that old diary is?

These types of old traditional methods are quite useful but keeping it at a safe place and maintaining contact-by-contact is a laborious task and transferring these contacts is not so easy too. Suppose your old phone have a contact list of 1000+ persons and you are planning to buy a new one. Can you imagine how much time do you need to feed your contact list manually? Herculean Task! It’s a common problem. But thanks to the modern smart phones and internet. You can take a backup of your mobile contacts online or offline and can say goodbye to the Hercules.

The very first thing I would suggest that you should take a backup on contacts on memory card of your mobile phone and save it on your computer. If for any reason the memory got wiped out, you can easily reinstall the contacts. Secondly install the CD on your computer, which you receive from the manufacture. Keep it updated and sync your contacts regularly. Always keep a backup of the contacts there. If you don’t have the CD, you can find it on the manufacturer’s website.

You can also try Third Party online services like Skebby, MobyKo etc. Google and you will find a number of them. Install the app and keep sync your mobile contacts periodically. But be aware that it may eat up some bandwidth from mobile phone for internet usage. Also there are some software which sync your mobile contacts with your Outlook account. Check FJSoft

If you are a Gmail user, you can backup your contacts in your Gmai ID with Google Mobile Sync. It works fine with Blackberry, Windows, iPhone and Android devices. At last, I would say, Ok! It’s fine to have a backup of your contacts on your computer. But also try to have a telephone diary for important contacts and write some very important contact number on a piece of paper and keep it in your wallet or purse. You don’t know when you would be in need.
